2012 MET Gala Trends - Black

There are so many MET Gala looks we can't give them all coverage but one of the major themes of the night fit in many. There were lots of colours on display but dramatic black seemed to be the winner.

Cate Blanchett donned black and another of the night's major themes - feathers - in her Alexander McQueen gown and Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry look.

Mary-Kate Olsen, like Lily Collins, went for a Victorian-inspired look in her black satin dress from the Olsens' own The Row line.

Sticking to her usual dark color palette Rooney Mara wore a sheer Givenchy design.

Rihanna made a switch from her usual body-flaunting outfits to a covered-up reptile skin look by Tom Ford.

Liv Tyler mixed metallic and black also donning Givenchy who she's been a face of for almost 10 years.

Liv Tyler & Uma Thurman's Chic NY Looks

Liv Tyler was at the 2012 Room to Grow fundraising gala held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in NYC on February 6.

Liv, who was joined by Uma Thurman at the event, wore a Stella McCartney blazer with simple black tank and leggings.

Liv's new bangs took centre stage as she kept the rest of the look simple - plain pumps and Chanel handbag.

Liv Tyler - Lovely in Stella McCartney

Liv Tyler looked utterly beautiful las she stepped out for the New York City Ballet Gala in New York. 

Liv wore a black lacy Stella McCartney gown that had almost sheer bottom-half, revealing Liv's perfect legs and some simple Stella heels.

With hair swept into tumbling romantic curls on one side, the look was finished perfectly.

She looked great last time she wore blue and going with what suits her, Liv Tyler again looked stunning in a cobalt blue dress from Stella McCartney. 

Out for the Cinema Society screening of The Ledge, Liv wore the form-fitting dress with simple black Christian Louboutin peep-toes.

Working beautifully with her dark hair, pale skin and blue eyes colorings, Liv Tyler wore a white and blue dress to the Stella McCartney Spring 2012 Presentation in New York.

Liv's dress was, of course, from Stella and was teamed with nude towering sandals from Stella too.

Liv Tyler was at the 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards in NYC on June 6.

While lots of others opted for bold blocks or columns of color, Liv made like a rainbow in her multi-colored Proenza Schouler dress which she wore with heels and bag from the brand too.

Liv Tyler was out for the Target GO International Designer Collective Launch in New York on March 10.

Joining Leighton and numerous other stars at the reopeing of the Dior Boutique in New York City on December 8 was Liv Tyler.

Liv honored the designer in a design from the Fall 2010 collection which she wore over a black long-sleeved top.

More black was teamed with the floaty dress by way of tights, Christian Louboutin peep-toes, and matching dark nails too.

Stars at the Burberry Spring 2010 Show

A look at the stylish stars who attended the Burberry Prorsum Spring 2010 show at London Fashion Week.

Unlike most of the other stars Victoria Beckham didn't don Burberry, she instead wore a black dress from her Spring 2010 collection.

Seated next to Victoria for the show was Agyness Deyn who was in a pretty blue dress and grey jacket. TV presenter Alexa Chung was in a belted black dress and booties.

The current face of the brand, Emma Watson, stood out from the crowd in a gold dress from the designer's Spring 2010 collection, plus some black heels, also from the collection.

Liv Tyler, next to Emma on the front row, opted for all black Burberry items.

And Gwyneth Paltrow was also in all Burberry. She paired her very feminine soft blue skirt with a print tee from the menswear collection.

The actress paired her dark Seven For All Mankind jeans with a black and white Juicy Couture blouse and some Lanvin shoes.
