Dark Styles at the 2012 ALMA Awards

Right, did we miss something? Did the ALMA Awards invite say "Must wear black"? Almost all the senoras and senoritas who turned up were in dark, dramatic, or sultry black.

Presenter of the night, Eva Longoria donned a number of dresses but swept into the September 16 event in a Monique Lhuillier gown and matching colour Tom Ford heels.

Naya Rivera opted for masculine chic but a girly touch was the Dolce & Gabbana suit's shimmer which Naya paired with Dana Rebecca diamond earrings and a Rona Pfeiffer ring.

Nicole Richie was gothic-glam in her black, gold, and mesh-insert gown.

Keeping with a black and diamond theme for the Pasadena event, Christina Aguilera teamed her lace-sleeved Michael Kors dress with jewel-embellished Judith Leiber clutch bag and the Christian Louboutin "Decora" heels which were also seen on Jennifer Lopez. 

Her black onyx and diamond earrings are Neil Lane.

The only thing out of keeping with the black and silver colours was Aggie's purple ponytail.

My Name is Earl's Nadine Velazquez left the maid outfit she's more famous for at home and donned a slinky black dress with classic heels and clutch bag of the same colour.

Christina Aguilera Carrying Red Givenchy

A few candids of Christina Aguilera out to pick up her son from pre-school on April 1.

Christina was suitably casual in black legs and a loose tee but really added a star touch to her look with a bright red Givenchy tote.

The Givenchy "Nightingale" has popular for sometime, being spotted on numerous celebs including Nicole Richie, Reese Witherspoon and, just a few days back, Miley Cyrus.  

Christina, though, is probably one of the first seen with a red Nightingale bag, one of which costs $1,910 at barneys.com.

Christina & Selena in Red Dolce & Gabbana Dresses

Out at different events on over the last few days, Selena Gomez and Christina Aguilera both looked fab in red Dolce & Gabbana designs.

At the 2011 Disney Kids & Family upfront, Selena wore her elegant design with Brian Atwood's pretty bow-backed heels.

Promoting The Voice competition, Christina teamed her strapless D&G design with spiked Louboutin heels, and her signature red lips.

Christina showed off her legs in a high at the front black Atelier Versace design.

She also wore a ton of mix and matched jewelry from Stephen Webster which included a huge "Xtina" ring and black YSL pumps.

Christina Aguilera was a true mix of old and new as she got papped out in New York on May 7.

Toting her son Max, Christina teamed her super glam Monroe-like curls and make-up with some skinny Jet by John Eshaya acid-washed jeans, Wildfox top, Prada sunnies and red flip-flops.

2010 Golden Globe Awards - Red Carpet Color Trends

Nudes, Peaches and Neutrals were a big feature on the 2010 Golden Globes red carpet.

George Clooney's girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis started the color chart in her lovely gown. Drew Barrymore was also in a nude shade, wearing crystal embellished Versace and Christina Aguilera took it up to peach in her Versace gown.

Nicole Kidman was in silky Nina Ricci.

Christina Henricks looked stunning in warm peachy Christian Siriano ruffles.

And Maggie Gyllenhaal was in her fruity shaded Roland Mouret.

Like with the peach, so many shades were worn the whole purple spectrum seemed to appear on the red carpet - from pale lilacs to deep amethysts.

Heidi Klum was in a subtle and pale lilacy shade with her princess-like Cavalli gown.

Jennifer Garner was in a heavily bead embellished lilac.

Fergie went for lavendar in her strapless - and sadly rain speckled - gown.

Sandra Bullock added a real color pop in her bold purple shade.

And Rose Byrne took it deeper in a dark violet shade Lanvin gown, adorned with diamond floral brooches from Neil Lane.

Jessica Simpson and her family made an outting to the Barneys store in New York over the holidays.

Jessica was looking cosy in a black fur trimmed jacket teamed with the Louis Vuitton bag and tall Ugg Adirondack boots she wore last time we saw her.

And Ashlee Simpson, carrying her cutie Bronx, wore tall leather boots, black wool coat and berry colored hat.

The AMAs Trends - Sparkle and Shimmer

Ultra glam sparkle was the major theme of the night for the 2008 American Music Awards and there were two categories of the theme - Gold and Glitz and Shimmering Silver.

Those is the first category included Paris Hilton and Miley Cyrus, who unlike Paris opted for just a little of the golden touch.
And the second silver category was overfilled with stars.

Christina Aguilera wore Elie Saab Couture and Pink opted for super glam in a beaded Vivienne Westwood gown.

Leona Lewis wore a pale shimmering Jenny Packham dress teamed with Swarovski clutch.

Mariah Carey added a little signature sparkle to her figure hugging black Dolce & Gabbana gown and Taylor Swift was all out sparkling in a sequined silver Colette Dinnigan mini dress.
