2012 MET Gala Trends - Black

There are so many MET Gala looks we can't give them all coverage but one of the major themes of the night fit in many. There were lots of colours on display but dramatic black seemed to be the winner.

Cate Blanchett donned black and another of the night's major themes - feathers - in her Alexander McQueen gown and Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry look.

Mary-Kate Olsen, like Lily Collins, went for a Victorian-inspired look in her black satin dress from the Olsens' own The Row line.

Sticking to her usual dark color palette Rooney Mara wore a sheer Givenchy design.

Rihanna made a switch from her usual body-flaunting outfits to a covered-up reptile skin look by Tom Ford.

Liv Tyler mixed metallic and black also donning Givenchy who she's been a face of for almost 10 years.
